Why We Love The Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast region extends from Noosa in the north to Caloundra in the south, and captures hinterland areas such as Beerwah, Maleny, Kenilworth and Eumundi. While there’s not too many places left in Australia where you can find quaint villages in the hills and cosmopolitan seaside hubs in such close proximity, in fifty short years, the Sunshine Coast region has grown from what was once a small beachside holiday destination into Australia’s ninth largest city.

Living on the Sunshine Coast is all about spending your days in thongs, having regular barbecues by the beach, and there’s really not much to ever really stress about. Partner this with access to an airport, healthcare, retail outlets and other essential infrastructure and you can imagine why people are moving to the Sunshine Coast in droves.

Described as offering the best of both worlds, the Sunshine Coast is often described as “an urban heart and a coastal soul”. Needless to say, this hasn’t meant sacrificing amenities and necessities for new and existing residents – locals still have access to the many retail outlets found in Kawana, two hospitals, a bustling cafe and restaurant scene, extensive education options, and even access to an international airport.

Much like the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast also boasts a wonderfully picturesque hinterland area, and in many cases the Sunshine Coast’s is even more striking – the aforementioned Glass House Mountains are a wonderful volcanic addition to topography, and the many little villages and towns each have their own unique charm.

Ultimately, the Sunshine Coast holds a special place in the hearts of many Australians, and for good reason. In addition, the great thing about this part of Queensland is that no matter how many times you’ve been, there’s always something new and exciting to discover.
